This resource is a comprehension activity for year 2. There are three differentiated booklets on the story of The First Christmas. The middle ability booklet is based on the KS1 SATs reading paper. There are a range of ‘what,’ ‘where,’ ‘who’ and ‘why’ questions, some multiple choice tick questions and some that require more detailed answers. The activity is also laid out in a similar way to the SATs booklets, with four pages with short written extracts to read and 5 questions per page. This resource is a plan for 3 lessons on Jesus’s parables to be taught to KS2. The first lesson covers why Jesus used stories/parables to teach lessons. The parables that are covered in the following 2 weeks are ‘The parable of the lost son’ and ‘The parable of the mustard seed.’ The second 2 lessons can be taught in any order and encourage the children to consider how difficult it is to forgive and how Jesus hoped to spread the word of God.
